Definitely a load of money- it takes a stadium, scholarships to get players, money to buy a coach and assistant coaches, and so on. Overall, over millions of dollars.

You can start by attending the summer camps sponsored by local high school and college teams and then practicing the skills you learned every day. You should also start a stretching program, aerobic conditioning program, and an anaerobic conditioning program.
Depends on the level you're interested in. Youth? Go to your local youth sports program and volunteer. Grade or High School? Get your degree and apply for a teaching job. If you have no background in basketball, you may still get hired at schools with no tradition. My grade school coaches had books "how to coach basketball" "football for dummies". College? Not much of a chance unless you make a name for yourself in HS or know an athletic director. Basically, like anything else, you have to start small and work your way up...unless you know someone.
when did professional basketball team start organizing
Depending on who you know, it can take up to 10 years or more. I do High School Basketball and it took on of our board members 10 years to get into junior college officiating. But I am sure if you go to officiating camps, and are really serious and start to like what you do then you can become a college official at the Div 1 or Div 2, level within 10 to 12 years. Thats because officiating and playing are completely different mindset which others don't realize. Basketball officiating can be one of the toughest sports to offiaciate.
Yes! Tons of basketball teams do, but most of them get beat and usally drop down to a lower rank.
