It has lots and lots of Federal income taxes, for individuals, corporations and anything else. Generally named for what they are, or in legal language by the bill number or law number used when they were made laws. Provinces also have these taxes and they generally co-ordinate with the national one. The income tax was first imposed in Canada in 1917 on both individuals and corporations, collected primarily by the Federal Government. Tax collection agreements enable both the federal and provincial governments to levy income taxes through a single administration and collection agency, called the Canada Revenue Agency. The federal government collects personal income taxes on behalf of all provinces except Quebec and collects corporate income taxes on behalf of all provinces except Alberta and Quebec. Canada has a graduated tax system, whereby the percentage over the "more than" amount goes up....graduated from 15.25 - 29% (2006).[6] These rates, together with provincial income tax rates, federal and provincial surtaxes, and provincial health premium taxes (both also calculated based on income), serve to create a combined top marginal tax rate that can approach 50% in some provinces.
For 2006, if you were single and had "taxable income" of 21,923, your federal income tax would be $2,911 or 13.3%. However, if 21,923 was your total gross income, and no one else can claim you as a dependent, you get a standard deuction of 8,450, taxable income of 13,473 and your tax is 1,644 which is 12.2% of the taxable amount and 7.5% of 21,923. This is federal taxes only...state tax varies by state.
For standard income tax filers, Maine follows the same due dates as the Federal. Some more special type forms may have slightly different dates.

No. While State taxes are a deduction to Federal income and hence may change your tax due to the Feds, your Federal tax does not effect your State taxes in any year.
In 2006‑07 the Federal Government spent $48 billion on health and aged care.
According to Salary.com, the average income of a small business owner as of 2006 was $233,600.
Keep in mind that the IRS reports their statistics based upon the Federal Fiscal Year, which runs from October 1 - September 30. For FY2006 (October 1, 2005 - September 30, 2006) the IRS collected $2,518,680,230,000 (2.5 Trillion-ish)
