Best Answer

Iron oxide has most often has 2 atoms of iron per molecule.

There are two forms of iron oxide, FeO (which has one iron atom) and Fe2O3.

Iron can take on a valence of II or III. Confusing. There are actually addition formulas for other iron oxides, too, including magnetite (Fe3O4).

The most common form is the Fe2O3 structure, which is the familiar iron rust.

How many atoms atoms in FeO2?

A molecule of Fe2O3 contain 5 atoms; two molecules contain 10 atoms.

Is rust made of atoms or molecules?

Rust (Iron-III oxide) is an ionic compound formed from iron atoms and oxygen atoms. We don't refer to an ionic solid as being a molecule, though, we represent the solid by its smallest building block. In this case, we represent iron (III) oxide as Fe2O3.

What is the formula for iron (III) oxide?

FeO for ferrous oxide, ( iron(II) oxide); Fe2O3 for ferric oxide, (iron(III) oxide) and Fe3O4 for ferrous ferric oxide, (iron (II,III) oxide)

What does Fe2o3 stand for?

In chemical equations, two molecules of iron (III) oxide, sometimes alternatively called ferric oxide.

What is chemical name for fe2o2?

The name of the compound Fe3O4 is called iron (II,III) oxide. (Wikipedia)

What compound is formed when iron is burned?

When iron is burnt (heated) and exposed to air the iron will combine rapidly with oxygen atoms to form FeO molecules (FeO - Iron Oxide - Also known as 'rust' on iron materials)

What is Fe 203?

iron (III) oxide

How many moles are in 250 g iron (III) oxide?

250 g iron (III) oxide is equal to 1,565 moles.

What does the III stand for in iron III oxide?

It stands for the charge on the iron ion. In Iron III oxide iron has a 3+ charge.

What is the iron II oxide formula?

FeO for ferrous oxide, ( iron(II) oxide); Fe2O3 for ferric oxide, (iron(III) oxide) and Fe3O4 for ferrous ferric oxide, (iron (II,III) oxide)

How many iron atoms are in the iron oxide?

Depend on it's valence state. Iron is transition metal and had many possible valence state (e.g. Fe2+ or Fe3+). For the case Fe2+ then it is just FeO and 1 atom informula but if it is Fe3+ then it is Fe2O3 and thus 2 atoms. You must check what written clearly, for iron oxide such as rust, it is wrtten as iron(III)oxide to stand for being a Fe3+.

Is iron (III) oxide easily obtained?

The preparation of iron(III) oxide is simple.
