To determine the numismatic value of a Canadian cent, one must know the condition and date of the coin. Also needed for Canadian coins is whether it's a coin from circulation, a "Proof-like" uncirculated coin, a Specimen coin, or a Proof coin. To determine the legal tender value, one must know the current exchange rate from Canadian dollars to the currency in question.

Without knowing the date and mint markings, there is no way of knowing if you have a rare coin. However, most pennies never really go up much in value.

In reference to US value, the Canadian penny is worth about $0.0082 (0.8 cents) n the US, which rounds up to about 1 cent US as we have no coinage below one penny. If you're referring to its collector value, recent dates are only worth face value. If you have an older cent please post a new question with the coin's date.

If you found it in changed, face value only. Uncirculated ones might be worth 3 cents to a dollar depending on quality.

Canada has used the maple leaf design on cents (pennies) for decades. Please check your coin again and post a new, separate question with its date.
