How much is a new gear cable for Hyundai excel 1997?
Why wont the 1998 Hyundai Excel start The engine winds over but the car will not fire Only happens occasionally and will start if you push start it?
The first and cheapest thing that comes to mind: is the shift cable still intact? There is a cable between the gear selector in the cab and the gear lever on the transmission. Crawl under the car, put someone inside to work the gears when you tell them to, find the gear lever, and have your friend move the gear selector. If the gear lever on the transmission does not move, the cable is broken.
Not positive but logically speaking the dash odometer is at one end and the gear or senor in the trans is at the other. Replacing the gear in the trans, if it's gear driven, is just replacing the gear assembly by unbolting it from the trans and disconnecting the cable from that assembly. Check the gear (turn) to see if it turns within it's housing. Not moving, replace. If it turns as it should, it…
ABS wheel speed sensors are located behind the front backing plates and are attached to the steering knuckle on the front. These read a tone ring which is pressed onto the outer CV joint. In the rear it is behind the rear backing plate also and the ring is on the hub. The Speedometer is mechanical and uses a cable attached to a gear which is engaged to another on the transmission output shaft internally.
remove the speedo cable from the gearbox near the fire wall will have a small bolt to the left off the cable . The oil level indicator is on the end of the speedo cable will have F and L keep putting the cable in and out till you get the right level ,for best results i use a good auto trans oil dextron 3 it makes the gear shift a lot smoother
if it is anything like a polaris, check the throttle cable comming out of the throttle lever on the handle bar, there should be a spot on the cable that the rubber will pull apart and you can turn it in or out. dont do what i did though, turned it up too high and when i started it, it was in gear and drove into the side of my truck, lol
You took your 1997 Ford Mondeo to the garage to get your speedometer fixed and they said it wasnt the cable or the dashboard what else could it be?
The problem is usually the worm gear in the gearbox. It is usually made from nylon (Plastic) and is easily replaced without removing the gearbox from the car. My experience is with a fiesta so should be the same and worth checking. Pull out the retaining pin just below the connection point of the speedo cable and the worm gear should just pull out. installation is the reverse of this. A new worm gear is…
Yes, or it's the plastic speedo gear that enters the transmission. An easy way to narrow it down between the speedo cable or the transmission gear is to disconnect the speedo cable from the transaxle (garden hose style), and attach the metal "key" end to your drill. Then spin the drill. If the speedometer reads like you were driving, then your cable is ok and it's your the gear in the transaxle. If the speedometer…
