Public transportation between Paris airports and Orléans city centre:
Total cost ~25 euros one way
From Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport, follow the signs "Paris par train/Paris by
train". It is a footpath from Terminal 2 and 3, but from Terminal 1 you will have to take a
"Aéroports de Paris Shuttle" Bus (line 2, gate 22, departure level) until Roissypôle-Terminal 3 (it is
free). Following the "Paris by train" signs, you will arrive to the SNCF train station. You can
purchase a ticket either at a desk or at a blue machine using a debit card (with the signs "SNCF" and
"Francilien"). Choose a ticket for "Gare d'Austerlitz" (or for Paris downtown) using the RER B
regional express train (it costs 8.10 euros one way). From CDG airport, it is about 30 minutes
travel to the station "Saint Michel-Notre Dame" where you have to get out of the train. The RER B
trains time intervals is 10-15 minutes on weekdays. From Orly airport, the RER B is also going to
Paris city centre and stops at "Saint Michel-Notre Dame" station.
At the RER B train station "Saint Michel-Notre Dame", follow the signs "RER C" trains.
Choose one of these directions: "Massy-Palaiseau", "Versailles-Chantiers", "Dourdan", "St Martin
d'Etampes". Check on the screens if the train stops at the next station, which is "Gare d'Austerlitz"
or Austerlitz SNCF train station, where you get out. Instead of the RER C train, you can also take
the metro line number 10. You can check the timetable of your travel between CDG airport and
Austerlitz SNCF train station on the RATP web site (http://www.ratp.fr/ select "International passengers" at
the top right of the window).
When you are at Austerlitz SNCF train station, go the SNCF main train lines. You will find
a desk (or yellow machines) to buy a train ticket for Orléans. It costs 16.60 euros one way per
person between Paris and Orléans (one hour travel). BEWARE! There are two train stations in
Orléans: "Les Aubrais-Orléans", and "Orléans". The SLOPOS-11 venue "Muséum des Sciences
Naturelles" is five minutes walk from the "Orléans" train station. If you get out of the train at "Les
Aubrais-Orléans", you will have to take either another train called "La Navette" between "Les
Aubrais-Orléans" and "Orléans", either the tramway - the stop is in front of the station (less than 10
minutes travel, a single ticket costs 1.30 euros, time intervals is 5 minutes on weekdays, there is less tramways on
Sundays). Timetable of the trains between Paris and Orléans can be found on the SNCF web site for a
selected date (http://www.sncf.com/indexe.htm).
The train you take is the Eurostar and it has 1st class and 2nd class tickets. A first class ticket is $170 USD. And a 2nd class ticket is $62 USD. You can buy in USD from RailEurope.com.
