The first wheat penny was struck in 1909. The coin is a 1883 Indian Head cent, the reverse is an Oak Wreath & Shield not wheat stalks. In average condition the coin has a retail value of $5.00-$8.00.
Please post a new, separate question indicating whether you're referring to a US Indian Head penny or a British penny.
Depending upon the condition, an 1883 Indian Head penny is worth $2 for a very worn piece to app. $45 for one in uncirculated condition.
The U.S. only struck 2 cent pieces from 1864 to 1873.
An 1887 penny's value depends on its condition. The 1887 penny, also known as the "Indian Head Penny," is valued at anywhere from $2 to $60 depending on condition as of August 2014.
Wheat cents were issued from 1909 to 1958. Your coin is an Indian Head cent. Please see the Related Question for more information.
US cents have never been made of silver.
Wheat cents were made from 1909 to 1958.
worth about 1 cent to the range of 2 cents.
3¢ U.S. FWIW, the coin is just a 2-cent piece. A penny is worth 1¢ so a "2-cent 1-cent" coin would be pretty odd.
There were 2 types of 3-cent piece struck that year. The nickel ones are worth $15 to $35 depending on wear. The silver ones are worth $350 to $500. Here are pictures of each type:
Check that coin again. The US 2 cent coin wasn't first minted until 1864.
A nickel, a 3 cent piece, a 2 cent piece, a one cent piece.
You need to know the coin's date and condition. You can find a list of values of 2-cent pieces at http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/prices/2cnt/pricesgd.shtml , among many such sites.
In uncirculated condition it might be worth up to a dollar. Otherwise, it's just a penny worth for its copper value currently at 2.3 US cents.
There is no such coin. Pennies (to use the common term) are worth 1 cent and there were two-cent pieces during the 19th century that were worth, well, 2 cents. They're not the same. A "2 cent penny" is like saying "a twenty-cent dime". If you have a 2-cent piece that's about the size of a quarter with a shield design on the front, please post a new question that includes its date and how worn it is. Those details are necessary to be able to estimate its value.
It's a 2 cent piece not a 2 penny coin:The 1864 2 cent piece has values of $35.00- $80.00 in average circulated condition
The last Australian 2 cent coins were put into general circulation in 1989 and are now no longer in circulation. There were "Mint Packs" released in 1990 & 1991 for collectors. Unless they are part of a proof set or are uncirculated and in absolute mint condition, they are worth 2 cents.
Condition is everything when it comes to old copper coins. In pristine condition it could be worth $25ish or so. However, the vast majority of 2 cent pieces are in pretty poor condition and only worth a dollar to about three dollars. However, do not clean your coin cleaning a coin (especially one like the 2 cent piece that contains no precious metals) will destroy any value that the coin had.
