Depends on how many times the person has been arrested for drugs. Usually get a break the first time around. Although abusing drugs is a crime, drug abuse is the result of abusing drugs. yeah, I know, but think about it. Drug abuse is not just taking drugs, it's also buying drugs, selling drugs, etc. Jail time is a lot harsher if you are a dealer and usually introduces you to the grown up version of jail: Prison.
If Law Enforcement or anybody knew the answer, then they would be able to prevent it.

Vehicular Homicide while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a felony. Whether or not the individual spends much time in jail would be influenced by the circumstances, the actual charges filed, and the results of trial or plea bargain. The answer, therefore, is "possibly."
The Navigation Acts encouraged smuggling because there was no method of controlling it. The Dutch offered a much better deal to the colonists, thus making smuggling in Dutch imports and smuggling out exports to the Dutch very worthwhile.
if you rob you would be in jail for 20 or 40 years
Drugs is a more serious crime then possesion of alcohol is...with drugs, illegal ones, you would go to jail considering on how much you have and if you've been dealing it or not. If not, most likely you'd be there for 6-8 months. If your arrested for DUI, you would go to jail, not prison, and depend on someone to bail you out. If not, you'd go for about a month, depending on if anyone was hurt/killed within the accident and the damage you caused.
It would be impossible to answer without knowing what specific drugs you are talking about.
Drug smuggling is a very common and lucrative practice. However, it is illegal and very dangerous. Many individuals who transfer drugs have a good chance of ingesting too much and getting very sick.
This would depend on the nature of the drugs, the amount of drugs, whether the individual was part of a conspiracy with others working to achieve this task. Only as a representative average, it may be between five and ten years. However, there may be exacerbating or mitigating circumstances which could either increase or decrease the sentencing.
