Studies in Harvard show that that soft drinks may be responsible for the doubling of obesity in children in the United States over the last 15 years. Also soda has caffeine which is a drug and drugs are poisionous. One liter contains 200mg of caffeine. An average a typical person between the ages 1drinks up to seven 12.oz cans of soda each day! Mutiply that by 365 days in a year, you get 2555 12 oz. can of soda per year which is also 239 gallons. This sounds like, this is a lie but it's not

^ I'm not really sure who answered this but there is no way that this answer can be true, and simple math will show you why:

Let's say for argument's sake you live to be 80 years old....

80 x 365.25 = 29,220 (This is how many days are in 80 years, including leap years) 29,220 x 24 = 701,280 (This is how many hours are in those days) 701,280 x 60 = 42,076,800 (This is how many minutes are in those hours) 107,500,500,500 / 42,076,800 = 2554.86397etc. (How many cans you would have to drink in a minute for that answer to be correct)

So, rounding up, you would have to drink approximately 2,555 cans of soda per minute (not figuring in all of the hours you would actually be asleep or a baby in all of this, making the answer even more ridiculous) to drink 107,500,500,500 cans of soda in a lifetime.

I have looked around and I have found that about.com says that Americans consume 56 gallons a year. PBH says that Americans drink 25.75 gallons of Coca-Cola each year if we awesome that Pepsi sales the same amount it would be about 52 gallons which leads me to think that the 56 gallons is close enough this of course is the same as saying each American drinks 1.5 12 oz sodas a day or about 1 20 oz can each day. If you look at your coke can for information it says 150 cal/12 Oz. Which comes out to be 12.5 cal/oz. So if you do the math it comes out to 84800 cal a year if you change that into extra lbs a year it comes out to be about 24 lbs a year! Conclusion you could loose two lbs a month with out ever hitting the gym! Of course this awesome that you drink water only because if you drink juice you won't loose weight since it has the same calories intake as a soda. The funny thing is that the coast guard just upgraded the average calculation for the average American weight from 165 to 185. So all of this weight can be traced to Americans consumption of soda!
