just the belt, should never cost more than 100 dollars. It is only a 10 or 20 dollar belt and the work to install it at most should take 30 minutes.
You will first need to loosen the serpentine belt in order to remove it from the drive pulley. After that, it is bolted to the engine in 2 locations, which should be rather obvious, then remove electrical connections.
You remove four bolts from alternator taking off all hoses and remembering where you took off bolt plates(small plates that screws go into). You then remove three bolts on passenger side of alternator. Take off drive belt. You will have to replace it. You will use the tension pulley to replace the belt. It takes a little force.
Remove fan clutch with fan impeller. Remove A/C compressor drive belt. Remove cap from tensioning roller. Relieve tension on drive belt. Remove drive belt. Reverse procedure for installation.
Disconnect both battery terminals. loosen the alt. bolts, remove the drive belt. then remove the bolts holding thr alt.
1. Disconnect Battery2. Disconnect Wiring to the Alternator3. Remove Serpentine Belt by using a 1/2" drive ratchet or strong arm...Observe how the belt comes off4. Remove bolts going through the alternator and you should be able to pry or wiggle the old one out5. Use reverse proceedure to replace
unplug electrical connectors. remove drive belt. remove alternator mounting bolts and remove alternator. installation is reverse.
Disconnect Negative battery cable- remove the accessory drive belt by loosening belt tensioner located on lower right side of engine -remove wiring harness connectors-remove alternator mounting bolts then remove alternator-installation is reverse of removal-takes about 45 minutes.
how do you remove the axel after taking out an alternator
Disconnect the positive battery cable, loosen the tension on the drive belt for the alternator, remove the electrical connections to the alt, remove the alt, and reverse the procedure. Tighten the drive belt tensioner to the required factory specs. Reconnect the battery cable.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. There are two wires connected to the alternator remove them. Then remove the left drive axle or remove the left engine mount, place a jack under the ol pan, raise and support the engine. This will provide te space to remove the alternator because it is very difficult to remove it from the top side of the engine.Loosen the alternator bolts, slacken the belt, then alternator can now be removed from the space created.
You have to remove the passenger side wheel, and inner fenders, then the drive axle and heat shield, then you can get at it. From underneath.....sorry.
