You may have a new pump and motor, but it sounds like the internals of the filter itself are broken and should be either repaired or replaced.

A crack in the pool pump can not be fixed permanently. Silicone and sealants may fix it temporarily, but it will need to be replaced.

Clean and empty in ground pool filter, clean and empty filter near pool pump. Be sure all whips are clear of dibris. also do a flush of the system. If this does not help, you will need to have a C02 charge done between the pool line and the pool pump. OR you may need to have your impeller replaced in the pool motor.
Yes, an older pump/motor can draw more amps. This usually happens when the motors windings are going bad or the bearings are going out. This causes the motor to have to work harder to rotate. It should have its own breaker. If its blowing your main, The motors windings are probably bad and the motor should be replaced.
Possibly you have a broken shaft or you may have a problem with the condensers that are needed to get the motor turning in the first place. These are usually situated in a little box on the top of the motor. A: No broken shaft. The "condenser" is called a capacitor. If you can remove the motor take it into your local pool store and they can check the motor and capacitor. You then will need a new pump seal and gasket once you get your motor from the repair shop. k
