Vit-E is an "essential" nutrient-one that the body cannot manufacture, so you must obtain it from outside sources.

The (RDA) "Recommended Daily Allowance" of Vit-E is 30 (IU) International Units.

There have been many studies and clinical trials that show that Vit-E levels many times higher than the RDA, on average 400-800 IU per day may provide significant health benefits.

The last publication that I read was 200 IU of Vit-E as D-Alpha Tocopherols, 2 X a day with food, based on a 2,000 calorie diet

REMEMBER: RDA's were developed to avoid what are known as acute deficiency diseases like scurvy (deficiency of vitamin C), rickets (deficiency of vitamin D), and pellagra (deficiency of niacin) more than 50 years ago.

Yes. 400mg is only 532 units. Vitamin is only dangerous at level above 1000 units (which is about 800mg), the main danger is excess bleeding.
