There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. Therefore if you had a net deficit of 200 calories a day (i.e. Food calories eaten - Calories used by body functions and excercise) you would lose a pound in weight every 17.5 days (on average).

This may sound a little slow but by excercising you would build up muscle, which would provide a snowball effect to the number of calories naturally used by your body every day (more lean muscle mass = faster metabolism). So don't be discouraged and keep at it. Slower is better - you don't want to put your body into shock by cutting down too much.

hi i wouldn't recommend eating only 200 calories a day, i have been there done that and the minute you start to eat you will gain it all again and some more, i have tried for years starving myself and had become totally obsessed, but i have finally lost it now but i was eating about 800 calories a day and i still am, i never feel weak or anything you would be really weak and cranky eating only 200 calories.i recommend just eating healthy fruit,fish etc. fruit actually burns calories as it takes more calories

for you body to burn it off. also pineapple etc flushs you out this should also help i wish you the best of luck.

Eating 200 calories a day is dangerous!!! You should be consuming somewhere between 1400-1600 calories just to stay healthy!

Use a bmi-calculator and then multiply by your activity level.

From that number, subtract about 500 calories. If you eat 500 calories less than you need each day, you will lose a healthy amount of weight per week. (about 1 pound)

The body needs calories as fuel, 200 just won't cut it, the body will go into survival mode and actually start storing fat not getting rid of them.

the only proper way to lose weigth is by eating healthy and exercising daily.

The above answer is not exactly true. It is true that the body will start storing fat and you will bloat but this will only happen after a few weeks of this diet. When on a 200 calorie diet a day you will drop approximately 5-7 lbs a week, depending on your metabolism. This is not a good diet to go on. Try an 800-1200 calorie diet per day with small amounts of exercise. You will then lose 3-5 lbs a week. This is Lot healthier and you are more likely to lose weight and KEEP it OFF!
