YouTube does not pay video makers based on the subscribers they receive. Instead, YouTube pays video makers in the monetization and partner program by how many video views they accrue and how many of the views generated ad clicks or views.

There is no set amount really, but I had to get 30,000 subs before the considered me.

I think your gonna have to need a lot. My guess is about over 1,000 subscribers. Also, your gonna have to get a lot of views and video views to become a YouTube partner.

Virtually any amount of views will pull in money for you as long as your videos are monetized. The threshold for payment is $100 though, so do keep that in mind.
