A cat can become pregnant as little as 2 weeks after giving birth!

If the question was more like how often SHOULD a cat have kittens, then the recommended amount of litters is zero. Reputable breeders usually let their Queens have no more than 3 litters in a space of 3 years.
Depends how many times a cat is allowed to breed. A Queen comes into heat every two or three weeks, and once mated the heat cycle often starts again as soon as the kittens are weaned, so as many as 4-6 litters a year.

However, this is far from recommended as letting a cat become pregnant constantly without "resting" her takes a huge toll on her health and overall quality of life, which then in turn puts any offspring at risk.

Cats can go into heat, up to 3 and 4 times a year .Depending if they're domesticated or not. (meaning wild cats or tame) Cats that are domesticated and just go outside for the fun of it, tend to go into heat less often than other cats, it's like the wild nature of a cat to produce more litters a year.
