How often do cats eat?

Some people like to leave out a bowl of dry food as cats will nibble periodically during the day and some people don't like to as it might contribute to weight gain. I personally have had cats for over 20 yrs have have had no problems leaving dry food out. Make sure your cat/s have plenty of fresh water if you do.

Adult cats are usually fed two or three times a day. Moreso if they are kittens. Many owners feed their cats a portion of wet food (usually one or half 100g pouch/can) per meal, and sometimes leave a few biscuits so the cat can nibble these throughout the cat. However, leaving down food is not entirely necessary and done at the convenience of the owner.

Eats on average 3-6 times a day, slightly less when ill. Drinking depends on the type of food: if it eats wet food, then it gets most of its water from that and will rarely drink. But if it eats dry food (biscuits), it cannot get water from them, and therefore MAY drink more. Cats that need more water because they eat dry food generally eat at meal time. If they eat both types, they may drink once or twice a day. However, this depends on the cat. Many cats never drink enough on a only dry diet.

If you have a normal cat, ie, not a specialy bread one or whatever, just give it food whenever it's hanging around the area you usualy give it food. My cat meows non stop till it gets food whenever its hungry :p
