Not all dogs lose fur. There are different breeds such as Bichon Frise', Poodles, etc., that do not shed. The dogs that do shed can shed simply by being in a warm house and constantly lose fur. Most dogs will lose fur a couple of times a year, so good grooming practices are in order. The more you get out with a good brush the less clean-up around your home. Marcy
2 weeks up to 3 but it matters what type people should go to a vet to check if it is a problem
The proper term is called "shedding". A bird moults, a dog sheds. Dogs normally shed during weather changes. You should brush them out very day. If you see a lot of fur being shed and bare skin or sore spots or itching excessively, then take your pet to your Veterinarian to be checked out.
Most dogs moult twice a year during seasonal changes, although they also shed some fur everyday. However, there are exceptions. Breeds such as the Poodle (all sizes) and Bichon Frise are virtually non-shedding.
Healthy Pugs usually shed for about 2 to 3 weeks twice a year Spring and Autumn. The Fawns have a double coat and so shed more hair while the blacks have only a single coat and so the volume of hair is less.
Most GSD's are known for shedding al throughout the year but they also have a 'blowing' where an extreme amount comes out about twice a year.
Obviously a long hair sheds more than a short hair but it depends.
Most do, some don't
