Water circulation in indoor pools is at least as demanding as with outdoor pools, if not more so. Run your filter regularly and make sure you turn-over the total pool volume at least once per day. (To calculate this you need to know how many gallons per hour your pump is pumping). A general rule of thumb - run the filter at least 6 hours per day, say 8 hours if the pool is being used frequently. Chlorination is also very important. Keep the level up and you must still shock' the pool occasionally. If you are having chlorine-odor problems, look at converting to the salt system as this will eliminate any odors and the need to 'shock'. Check out http://salinepoolsystems.com.

My 25x45 8ft. deep indoor pool costs less than a 1/4 of my daughters 15x30 outdoor pool to maintain. The demand for chemicals and filtration is completely dependent upon its environment. Also since chlorine is chlorine, salt systems do not eliminate odors or need to shock. They are as susceptible to chloramines, which is what you smell, as any other chlorinated pool. Salt systems are one of the biggest ripoffs to the pool owning public and in fact a fairly recent article in THEE major pool industry magazine interviewed several pool professionals who have taken them off their own pools and now require their customers to sign a hold harmless waiver on the units they install.

There is no hard and fast rule about this, If you see that the the surfaces of the pool have some sort of dust or other build up on them then it is a good idea to brush them in order to keep them looking clean.

Pools should be cleaned out in many different ways which makes how often this should be done to vary. The skimmer should be cleaned out daily. Vacuuming the pool should be done once a week but it can be done every two weeks if the time is not available to do so. The pump should be cleaned twice a season (this should be done throughly). Cleaning will be less necessary if the cover is kept on the pool consistently too.

The cleaning schedules varies from filter to filter, but a general guideline on any swimming pool filter is to take a reading when the filter is clean, then clean the pool filter when the pressure rises about 10 psi.
