How often should the timing belt on a 1999 S 70 Volvo be replaced?
The timing belt needs to be replaced about every 100k miles. Actually the recommended interval is 105,000 miles. You also replace the tensioner and idler pulley at this time
The Prizm has a timing CHAIN, not belt. The timing chain does not get replaced on a scheduled interval. It should never need to be replaced. The serpentine belt, however, does need to be replaced. Inspect the belt for cracks and glazing, and replace. It is not a difficult DIY job. It is easiest to do it from under the car, after removing the splash pan.
Does the 1991 Ford Aerostar 3.0 engine utilize a timing belt or a timing chain How often should it be checked or replaced?
You were told by a mechanic that a 1999 Toyota RAV4's timing belt needs to be replaced after 72 months you thought it was 90000 miles What gives?
Timing belts should be replaced about every 40,000 miles or so more often under extreme conditions, they can and WILL fail with no more then 20,000 miles on them. With many newer motors they are zero clearance which means if the belt goes while motor is running it will bend valves , that will be adding 500 to 1500 dollars to a TIMING belt job
I don't think so. Replacing the timing belt is regularly scheduled maintenance. You can find out how often it should be replaced in the owners manual next to changing the oil, air filter, spark plugs, etc... It's replaced about every 50,000 miles or so depending on the car. A ticking noise can come from lots of things - low on oil, etc...
