A deep watering every two weeks is necessary if you don't get any rain; however, if you over water or under water the leaves will turn yellow. What I do is walk over to the tree regularly and stare at the leaves. If they are wilting by 5pm (full sun) then I know they need watering. All of the above is for trees trying to get established. Once established they hardly require watering at all. This is from Texas.
