You can't have a crusade in 55B.C. because Christianity didn't exist yet. Oh and you can't have it end in 2700A.D. this is because we live in 2010A.D. so they can't end in the future i know that castle building went on during the middle ages for i time period idk.

The very first castles were built by the French in the early 900s and were of motte and bailey (timber and earth) construction. The immediate reason for their use was the turmoil after the collapse of Carolingian society, when many local lords and princes wanted to protect their own lands from everyone else.

The Normans were originally marauding Vikings permitted to settle in part of northern France; they learned the technique of castle building from the French and it was the Normans who introduced this new technology to England during the 1050s (some time before the Norman conquest).
