well the best way to find out that answer is call local law enforcement. i can tell you i am from Florida and i asked an officer floridas laws and was told that a child that is responsible can babysit over the age of 9. i had a 12 yr old that babysat a 9 and 2 yr old. glgl

Answer to the QuestionYes, it is legal. However, it is probably not a good idea. Most place believe that a teenager (13) can handle one child for short periods of time. A toddler is usually more trouble and throw a 9 year old into the mix and I wouldn't recommend it.

There isn't a 'legal' age. It's pretty much whatever the parents want. That if, of course, if you are just watching kids for a family you know. However, if you want to get a job at a child care place, then it depends on the place itself

They can if their parent believes that they have the mental maturity and would be able to handle everything during an emergency situation (i.e. not leaving the children in the house and running away during a fire.)

Can a 13 babysit her sister and brother?

Not a good idea. A 13 year old is not considered old enough to be responsible. Most places say a 12 or 13 year old can babysit for a few hours during the day, but certainly not for several days by themselves.

Can a 10 year old babysit her 2 year old brother for a short period of time?

It is really up to the parents, but the legal age is 13 to babysit in England. They need to be responsible and trustworthy. You cannot babysit someone elses child at the age of 10. I am 13 (14 in a few weeks) and I babysit for people that I know. Not sure about the USA. Hope this helps!
