That's a good question. It should be given away before you get attached to it or it gets attached to you. Because, if you keep the puppy for a long time it would be harder for you to let it go and for the puppy to leave.
Also it should be old enough that it can be away from its mother (weened)
A good time to let a pup go , the ideal time is between 6 and 8 weeks. given that the pups weight and health is good, you should make sure that pup has first set of shots and first worming. Good teeth. And with n o doubt good homes.
