I was wondering the same thing! In Pennsylvania, there is no age restriction, according to this web site. Here is the link; you can look up your state. http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/laws/result.asp?state=pa
According to this link on the AMA web site there is no age restriction. http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/laws/result.asp?state=nj Of course you do need to carefully weigh the risk. I do take my 10 year old on the back occasionally and he loves it! But I must admit that, despite being an ex motorcycle instructor, and having riden over 300k miles, I am nervous about it and I ride much more carefully with him there.
A child can ride as a passenger on a motorcycle in the UK providing that a few guidelines are met. These include that the child must be able to reach the footrests, they must be able to sit on the motorcycle and hold on to the driver or the handholds. The child must also wear protective and visible clothing (boots, pants, jacket) and also a helmet.
There is no age restriction. There is no age restriction.
No Age! As long as they can touch the passenger foot pegs, they are good to go! With a proper size and DOT helmet.
18 to ride it
The passenger on a motorcycle can ride backwards , there is no law saying you can't . I ride on the back of my dads bike backward all the time he has a sissy bar on the back to hang on to.
no such thing in bc. if it's an enduro you have to be 16 before you can get a motorcycle licence to ride on road
There are no passenger age restrictions in Pennsylvania currently.
No, It is not illegal from someone that does not have a license to ride the motorcycle. If the person without a license was driving the motorcycle then it would be illegal.
Not in most countries.
In Massachusetts you can own and ride a motorcycle with a permit. You just cant ride with a passenger and if you dont get a license you pay a higher insurance rate
Yes, in the United Kingdom you do not need to have a licence or any knowledge of motorcycles to be a pillion rider provided the rider holds a full licence and is insured. A provisional licence holder can ride a motorcycle and take a pillion passenger provided that the pillion passenger holds a full motorcycle licence (he is then deemed to be instructing the rider).
In Ohio, it's against the law to ride a passenger on a motorcycle if the driver only has a temporary permit. Punishment could remove the license from the offender.
There is no restriction on age for a passenger. Common sense should be used.
There is no age legal restriction for passengers on motorcycles in New York State.Currently, only two states have an age restriction for motorcycle passengers. NYS crash statistics have shown that the number of child passengers in motorcycle crashes is not significant. While there is no age restriction for passengers on a motorcycle in New York State, there are requirements for motorcycle passengers. Under Section 1251 of NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, to carry a passenger:The motorcycle must be designed to carry more than one person and the passenger must ride on a permanent seat. The passenger must face forward, with one leg on each side of the seat. The passenger cannot interfere with the operation of the motorcycle or the view of the motorcycle driver. The passenger must wear a motorcycle helmet approved by the US Department of Transportation.Let common sense determine if a child is old enough and big enough to safely ride a motorcycle. Also consider the additional risks faced by motorcycle passengers compared with passengers in a car protected with seat belts or child safety seats. If a child is not large enough to properly wear an approved helmet, then the child cannot legally ride on the motorcycle. If the child cannot place both feet flat on the passenger foot pegs of the motorcycles, then it is not safe for the child to ride the motorcycle.
Depends on your local laws. Children here can ride as a passenger when they are 8 years of age and older.
