In most states, the child must be 12 years of age or older, although, it does vary per state. An example is New York and New Jersey, New York there is no age, it pretty much just depends on the responsibility level of the child. In New Jersey, I'm not exactly sure but I've been told that, responsibility level, if the child knows what to do in an emergency, if the parent thinks their child is trustworthy enough, it's basically the parents decision.

Well It doesent really matter how old you are it just matters if your parents are willing to leave you home.
