Have a Riverside Arms Co single shotgun do not know if 12 gauge or 16 gauge that belong to my Dad Found the number RP757 stamped on rifle behind the trigger Does this tell info about the rifle?

Sorry- that is a serial number, and conveys no information. If the barrel is not marked, you need to take it to a gunsmith who will measure the chamber- not only for gauge, but for the correct shell length. Just because an unfired shell fits does not mean it is the correct shell. And it is not a rifle, but a shotgun.

Can you put 16 gauge shotgun shells in a 12-16 gauge pump shotgun?

it is not safe to fire 16 gauge shell in anything but a 16 gauge. No shells will interchange with other gauge guns since a 16 gauge shell would fit in a 12 gauge chamber, I would think you can do this.

What size shells can a 1940's model over and under Belgium made browning shoot gun shoot?

Depends on the gauge of the shotgun (should be marked on the barrels) and the length of shell it was made for. Some of the earlier guns used shorter shells than are now standard. Just because a shell fits does NOT mean it is safe to fire. If your shotgun is not marked with a shell length (like 2 3/4) you should have it examined by a gunsmith that can check shell length.
