Manufactured by Savage/Stevens (equivalent to their Model 311-D) probably in the 1950's. http://www.e-gunparts.com has a listing of most house-brands.

Sold by Sears Roebuck. Probably manufactured by Stevens.

The Ranger 410 double barrel was made for Sears Roebuck by Hunter Arms and by Steven Arms. Yours was Made by Stevens Arms.

Made for Sears Roebuck by Stevens. There may be a model number on the right side of the receiver (most likely 5000, 5100, or 311) or a Sears product number on the barrel (101.6?) which could give an approximate date.

Sears is known to have used that as a tradename, but they never manufactured anything. Ithaca used it as a tradename, but not on doubles. There are other markings on the gun which might be helpful. www.countrygunsmith.net

I can say that J.C.Higgins was the name used to signify Sears & Roebuck firearms from 1942-1962.I would assume that your double barrel shotgun was made during this time span.

I just paid $300 for one in very good shape, hardly used. I didn't know it was Sears, but I figured it was some house brand. The receiver and barrel are actually quite nice; the wood is VERY plain.

As I saw in other faq`s answered about King Nitro shotguns, they were made by Sears,Roebuck co. We need to find those other answers and correct them. Sears Roebuck never made any guns unless you count those manufactured by their subsidiary company, Meriden Arms from 1905 to 1915. Nitro King was a Sears brand but King Nitro was a trade name distributed by Shapleigh Hardware of St Louis. The guns were made by W.H. Davenport, Iver Johnson, J. Stevens (model 315 double barrel), and unidentified Belgian manufacturers.
