Your montgomery wards westernfield model 47a was made by mossberg for montgomery wards. The mossberg model designation for this model is 45A.The mossberg model 45A was made between 1937-1938.
I am not sure about the correct answer but I can tell you this for certain. My friend and I bought our new in either 1961 or 1962 from Montgomery Wards.
My research indicates that this rifle was a Mossberg Mod. 46 which was manufactured in the late 1930's and early 40's
The Western Field model 36 .22 rifle was a Montgomery Wards branded Mossberg model 10 or Stevens (Savage) model 52b. Both were sold as Western Field model 36s. These date to the mid-1930s.
your Western field model 60 shotgun was made by Savage arms for Montgomery Wards(western Field). The Savage model 620A and your shotgun are one and the same.If you go to Savage arms home page, they may be able to say when the model 620A shotgun was produced.
Try: Numrich gunpartscorp.com Jack First jackfirstgun.com Bob's Gun Shop gun-parts.com You are looking for a Savage mod 520 - that is the model number of the actual manufacturer.
You sure this isn't an EJN 757 instead of a JEN 757? I have a EJN 757 in 3006 and would also be interested in any info. for this rifle.
This is actually a Savage Model 620A. If it was hand-checkered, I doubt if it was done at the factory. The 620A was used as a trench and riot gun by U.S. troops during WW II and later. Law enforcement also used it as a riot gun. The 16 ga. Wards Western Field mod. 60 (Savage 620A) I have also has hand checkering.
Not certain, but I THINK your rifle may be a Colt Colteer semi automatic, made for Montgomery Wards under their Western Field label. Some of the cross reference data is spotty. Google images for Colteer, and see if it is similar to your rifle.
Pretty rare, nice look, very hard to come by,the wards western field (NO.47) tube fed .22 boltaction rifle was only made for two years 1933/1935.GREAT rifle, takes s,l,lr,(parts)cross refs with the mossberg 45a/45c. Value of the NO.47 could bring 180 to 450,an up depending on condition,an to the rite collector.great shooter,an a really great find!
Best left to a gunsmith
The Hercules Model 10 is actually a Stevens model 94. The model 94 was manufactured between 1926 and 1945.
Made for Montgomery Wards by Stevens, yours is a Model 85, Value is driven by consition, but roughly $90-$140. No real public data on these rifles- if there is no serial number, made prior to 1968.
