Chaucer died in a bar room brawl under suspicious circumstances. He was stabbed above the left eye. Some believe he may have been a spy for the Privy Council. I believe he was twenty six when he died.

We do not know how or when Chaucer died. He disappears from view around 1400 - a very turbulent period in English history (the deposition of Richard II in 1399, and subsequent murder in 1400, would segue into the Wars of the Roses).
The circumstances of Chaucer's disappearance are so strange that a recent book by Terry Jones (of Monty Python) speculates that he may have been murdered.
It is unlikely Chaucer was murdered, but we have no real information about his death whatever.
PS
It was Christopher Marlowe who was stabbed above the eye in Elizabethan times (1593). Chaucer belongs to a much earlier time.
No one knows. See quote from Wikipedia article:
Soon after the overthrow of his patron Richard II in 1399, Chaucer vanished from the historical record. He is believed to have died of unknown causes on 25 October 1400 but there is no firm evidence for this date, as it comes from the engraving on his tomb, which was built more than one-hundred years after Chaucer's death. There is some speculation-most recently in Terry Jones' book 'Who Murdered Chaucer?: A Medieval Mystery -that he was murdered by enemies of Richard II or even on the orders of his successor Henry IV. However, as of yet there is no solid evidence to support this claim.
