It was not uncommon for Egyptian royalty to marry one another; this was to keep the bloodline pure and to keep the wealth within the family. Tut took after his father for he too often had his wife portrayed as being the same size as he was. Akhesenamun and Tutankhamen later had two stillborn children whose mummies were placed in their father's tomb.
