In accordance with Louisiana CCP Book 1, Title 8, Chapter 2, the minimum age for filing a petition of emancipation is sixteen. FYI, Louisiana sexual consent statute sets the legal age for a minor to engage in any sexual activity at 17.

As long as you are emancipated, you can move in. When you become emancipated it means, even though age wise you are not, legally you are an adult. You can sign contracts and make all the decisions, and deal with the responsibilities of, being an adult.

The age of legal majority in LA is 18 - or you can be emancipated by the court at 16.
