∙ 11y agoAs a nation India is, or could be,actually quite wealthy; but her society is very deeply divided with considerable, desperate poverty for very many of her population. This arises from a mixture of geographical, social and political reasons including arid climate, the ingrained Caste System among the Hindus and Governmental neglect.

∙ 10y agoIndia is one of the countries in the world that suffers greatly from poverty with about half of the current population being classed as poor and living below the poverty line. It is hard to put a definitive figure on the actual number but it is one of the countries with the highest poverty rates.
