The Wii's internet Channel is a fairly simple Web browser based on Opera. It has support for Flash applications, but little else. It does not allow executable files to be transferred and activated on the Wii. No viruses (virii?) can be received through the Internet Channel, and the Wii doesn't have any useful ports open for a hacking attempt.
In short, the Internet Channel is safe from most online nasties.
