A hand is a unit of measure in horses that is equal to 4 inches, so a horse that is 16.2 hands is 66 inches tall. Horses are measured from the ground to their withers, which is the point at the base of the neck where the shoulders come together at a point.

Each hh is 4 inches up to the withers, which is the point where the mane starts near the horses back. So 4 times 17 is 108 inches up to the withers. ( they're kinda tall and great for show jumping/eventing )

Well, it's 69.4 Inches, if that helps. You could break that down in feet.

How I got this: 17.1 (Hands high) x 42 (multifly to determine inches) = 68.4 Inches
