how it would be different is because you need trees to have oxygen to survive and it helps with growing plants and if they did not have trees then they would die

they had it oh yeah
They were mainly used to make lumber for shipbuilding.
They grew fastest in the England colonies because of the land. The trees they had along the coast was great for ships. They had materials, and trading lanes.
They used them to make boats, houses, forts, and tools.
The biggest difference between the two regions is the soil composure. In New England you had a much rockier soil composure while in the Middle Colonies you had a much softer, fertile soil composure. Because of this farming in the New England colonies was very hard. Also becasue of the difference in soil composure there are different kinds of forests. In New England you have many more coniferous forests, because of the colder weather patterns and harder soil composition, in the Middle states forest are dominated by deciduos trees, or trees that loose their leaves in autumn. The climate in the New England colonies is much harsher also leading to short planting seasons for the Pilgrims. It was not an ideal location for a settlement -- the Pilgrims were actually shooting for Virginia, but a storm threw them off path and they ended up in what is today Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA
There were a number of ways that the New England colonies made money when they separated from England. They made money by fishing and cutting trees for example.
The middle colonies had good soil and were able to produce cash crops. This means they grew enough to sell and make a profit. The New England colonies were only able to grow enough for a family or just a bit trade or to sell, but not as much as the middle colonies did. They had to go to other things like fishing and building boats.
