The roots are very long so they go deep into the ground to get water. When explorers are in the desert they tear open a cactus to get water, but they had to be careful of those sharp spikes [Because cacti has a waxy covering!!! also they have the really sharp spikes so no other animas can take th water that they struggle to get, as if they even try to, they will get pricked very hard!
