radioactivity proves that there are smaller particles in an atom that makes it up, they are proton, neutron, and electron. Dalton's atomic theory clearly states that the atom is the simplest particle. Radioactivity contradicts Dalton's theory since it proves that there are particles which are simpler than the atom.

Daltons thory was that matter was made up indestructible atoms. The discovery of radioactivity showed that one elent could change into another, famously radium decaying to from radon gas. The theory has to be modified to include words like "with the exception of radioactive isotopes". Certainly Dalton who lived 1766-1844 didn't know of radioactivity that discovery came much later at the end of the 19th centiry. Probably the most famous scientist involved being Marie Curie.

What discovery contradict components of Daltons atomic theory?

These ideas are:· "All atoms of a given element are identical" : discovery of isotopes.· "A given compound always has the same relative numbers of types of atoms" : discovery of nonstoichiometric compounds.

Is it true that the atomic bomb couldn't exist without radioactivity?

Simply to put it Yes. Atomic Bombs is a form as Nuclear bomb and Nuclear products/elements such as Uranium 235 (a material used in a atomic bomb) emits radioactive particles. Radioactivity Particles = radioactivity.

What is the atomic mass of neon'?

The approximate mass is 11. Technically you could express this in units of daltons as 11 Da (Daltons previously called amu, Atomic Mass unit, or as 11 (the dimensionless, relative atomic mass which chemists simply call atomic weight) .

What discovery lead the scientists to question john daltons model of the atom and to favor jj Thomsons model?

JJ Thomson's discovery of electrons indicated that atoms were not indivisible.

What is the approximate mass of a neon-11 atom?
