Why cost being borne by the consumer or manufacturer?
The determination of which costs are born by the consumer of manufacturer often depends on the position of the company. If they are trying to increase sales by undercutting the competition they will often bear more of the cost. Is it the responsibility of the government or the manufacturer of dietary supplements to protect the consumer from unsafe products?
I believe that we can all agree that it is the responsibility of the manufacturer, not the government. Yes, we like to subconsciously think that the government controls everything and should be the ones to protect us. The truth is that the manufacturer has a responsibility to the consumer by a code of ethics. If an company sells faulty products to its consumers without being honest, they will eventually lose respect and go under.

How do you improve consumer rights awareness in India?
Along with every product a consumer buys, the Manufacturer should enclose a detailed literature of what right a consumer could exercise in case of a malfunction or unsatisfactory performance of the product. This will bind the consumer to know his rights so he could understand the Maker better(empathy) before he feels aggrieved.
