Yes, you can wash rats.
Word of caution: Always read labels & use only animal shampoo. Some shampoos will/can cause skin & eye irritation, & some can cause even respiratory or heart complications.
Also, if you don't trip their claws, be careful
Typically, you shouldn't have to, as with cats they groom themselves. However, if you find in a situation that your pet rat is not or cannot fully clean itself then, get a couple Qtips and a baby towelette. Run the qtips under warm water, and rub them over the rats eyes, not too hard, but just enough so they are not watery or dirty. Take the towelette, and rub gently over the back and belly, being careful not to use a dirty spot on the towel for genitalia. For the tail, make an "O" with your forefinger, and thumb, with the towelette between you and the tail, and gently pull and do this several times to gently scrub away the dirt. Hopefully, you now have a clean rat. I don't advise using soap because they may lick it off and too much can be dangerous.

No, you can not catch an illness from any rat at the pet store. If the rat is sick it will not spread the disease to humans. But it is possible to get salmonella from a rat if you touch it and then touch your mouth. So always wash your hands after handling an animal.
Yes humans can get Rat Lungworm. You can get them from eating raw or undercooked snails/slugs or by eating rat droppings/urine. Obviously you are unlikely to eat rat waste if you saw it but it can be on grass or the waste can have decomposed but the parasite will still be there, so wash your hands before eating.
it depends how you take care of the mouse or rat. if you wash it and the cage every few days it shouldn't be bad
yes but WASH VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD DO NOT GIVE YOUR RAT TOO MANY
A rat bite in and of itself is not something to cure. It is simply a small wound that will heal like any other. However, a bite from a rat can transmit disease. How treatable it is depends on the disease. The greatest risk is of rabies. If you are bitten by a rat or any other mammal that you do not know wash the wound and see a doctor immediately to ask about a rabies shot. If you wait until rabies symptoms appear, you will almost certainly die.
