Putting makeup on your skin is a bad idea if you want to remove after marks. Makeup clogs up your skin pores and creates more pimples. You could try to wash your face with cold water instead of warm water. Don't scrub too hard or it will leave dry skin. Or you could try buying acne products.

Also I have heard that peroxide used for bleaching hair can be dabbed on dark spots. The peroxide from the regular store is not strong enough (3%), you must use salon strength which is 12%.
I have used lemon juice to lighten old pimple spots and it works. But I have never tried peroxide.
