The fuel filter should be located under the frame rail of the truck towards the rear. Just follow the fuel lines from the engine back. It will either have snap in connectors ,(which require a special tool to release) , or will have 3/4 and 5/8 flange fittings. Remember to release presure at the service valve on the fuel rail on the engine brfore beginning. Take the bracket lose from the frame and take the lines loose taking care to remember the proper flow direction and replace with the new one. it should start after it purges the air from the new filter.

If it is carburated itis in the inlet nut of the carb. If injected it is inline.

The fuel filter is uder the driverside door outside of the truck. Underneath the truck you will see the frame ( C-beams) of the truck. Its on the inside of the driverside C-beam.
The fuel filter is probally underneath bolted to the frame, the fuel line comes out of the gas tank and is secured to the inner part of the frame and the fuel filter should be bolted to the frame about the center of the truck.

Sorry to be the one to tell you, But in 2004 Chevy moved the fuel filter from the frame rail and put it INSIDE of the fuel tank.
It should be after the fuel pump somewhere near the carburetor if not attached to it.
Does it have fuel, spark (BAD COIL?) and compression?
Follow the fuel line to the engine, it is either an in line filter or in the housing of the carburetor.
if it is a rochester carburetor, it is inside the carburetor just behind where the fuel line screws into it.
If your engine has a carburetor the filter is in the supply line into the carburetor. If your engine is fuel injected the filter is right next to the gas tank in the fuel line.

You will have to remove the fuel tank are raise the truck bed up to get to the top of the fuel tank. The fuel filter is inside of the fuel tank and it will come out of the top of the tank.
