How do you remove gasoline from a gas tank on a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier?

There are usually 2 or 3 straps around the tank. You can remove the adjusting bolts and the straps will open. Make sure you have a floor jack or something else to support the tank when you remove the straps.

Once the straps are off and the fill tube has been disconnected, lower the tank just a little so that you can get to the electrical and fuel line connections.

My husband And I just changed the tank on our 89 Sundance. Make sure you remove srews from plastic cover piece inside fuel door. Undo the straps from tank. There are also a couple of bolts there to hold tank, close to the back from underneath. THen you have to slide tank over everything there. Not real hard to do.

You can remove gasoline from your 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier gas tank by removing the fuel line. Loosen the front gasoline tank retaining straps. Tilt the gasoline tank downward to remove all of the gasoline.
