Rear Drum Brake Removal / 99 Honda Civic LX

Removing the drum on an LX is totally different from the SE. An axle nut holds the drum on. To remove this nut, get a flat head screwdriver and a hammer. Pry off the gold hubcover in the the center of the lugstuds. This will reveal a gold axle nut. Use the flat head screwdriver to remove the crimp on the nut so you can turn it. The nut is very large so be prepared with an 1" to an 1" 1/2 socket for removal. Once it's removed, it's smooth sailing.

what year?front or back? for the most part , all you do is remove wheel, remove caliper, then pull brake disk off if disk is a rear disk, the park brake is inside the disk and you will need to use a hammer to tap on disk to remove it. once the wheels are off there are only a couple of clips on some of the wheek studs to keep disk in place. the disk is actually held to vehicle with the wheel and lug nuts

remove the axle nut on the opposite side from the rear drive sprocket. no need to remove the bolt from inside of the rim, just the big nut. then get a hammer and hit the inside of the tire not the rim then the whole wheel will come off. then remove the disk brake remove the caliper first then the disk. then remove the 2 nuts from the axle holding the inside nut and loosening the outer nut. then nicely pull the whole shaft out from the sprocket side. no need to remove the wheel for this step. make sure you remove the chain from the sprocket .. have fun..

remove wheel. if disk brake, knock studs out with a hammer. insert new studs from rear side of disk. use a spacer and wheel nut to pull stud thru disk until seated. then remove wheel nut and spacer. replace wheel if drum brakes you need to remove the brake drum, then proceed same as for disk brakes

If you created more than one partition on startup disk then you should backup all the information on that disk before going any further. Restart the Mac from the Operating System Install disk, and use the Disk Utility program to remove the extra partition. Most Mac people find the only reason they need more than one partition is when installing Windows and / or Linux on the Mac startup disk.
