how to remove a starter on 2000 dodge caravan
jack up vehicle and support it with stands.the starter is on the front of the engine,there are two bolts that hold the starter up.you will need a 15mm socket to remove the bolts. you will also need a 13mm socket to remove the power wire off the back of the starter.then there is one more wire you will need to remove and its an 8mm.just do the reverse to install it
I'm assuming you mean how do you remove a starter in a 2000 Gran Marquis? 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. 2. Raise and support the vehicle. 3. Remove the starter motor solenoid terminal cover. 4. Remove the bolt and position the transmission cooler lines and bracket out of the way. 5. Remove the red protective cap on the starter solenoid. 6. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire. 7. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire. 8. Remove the three bolts. 9. Remove the starter motor .
For the 3.0 liter engine. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Locate starter at lower front of engine by engine fans. 2 bolts holding starter in, upper and lower. Remove lower bolt 3/4 way- easy to see, upper bolt go from top of engine to remove (need extensions). Completely remove lower bolt and remove positive battery connector and signal wire on top of starter. Install reverse of removal.

(5-7 Nm). # Lower the vehicle. # Install and tighten the upper retaining bolt to 15-20 ft. lbs (20-27 Nm). # Install the air intake resonators. # Connect the negative battery cable. 2.5L Engine Fig. 3: Starter mounting - 2.5L engine # Disconnect the negative battery cable. # Remove the engine air cleaner assembly. # Remove the fuel feed and return lines from the support bracket located on the accelerator cable bracket, and remove the fuel line bracket. # On vehicles equipped with a automatic transaxle, remove the gear selector and the gear shift cable bracket from the transaxle. # Remove the air cleaner support bracket from the engine and transaxle mount. # Remove the nuts on the starter terminals and remove the cables from the terminals. # Remove the starter motor-to-transaxle case retaining bolt at the rear of the starter. # Remove the two starter retaining bolts and carefully lift the starter from the transaxle case while disengaging the alignment pins. To install: # Position the starter onto the alignment pins and onto the transaxle case. # Install the two starter retaining bolts and the rear retaining bolt and tighten them to 15-21 ft. lbs. (21-29 Nm). # Place the starter cables onto the terminals and tighten the retaining nuts to 80-124 inch lbs. (5-7 Nm). # Install the air cleaner support bracket. # If removed, install the gear shift selector and bracket. # Install the fuel line bracket and install the fuel lines in the bracket. # Install the air cleaner assembly. # Connect the negative battery cable.
