it's pretty easy to tell because the Mitsubishi tranny is not going to be in MOST ford rangers. Mitsubishi is partnered with Chrysler not ford

The Mitsubishi 5-speed overdrive transmission came on the 2.9L 4x4 Ranger from 91-92.
