The turn signal/wiper switch is most likely bad and will need replacment. how do you change the switch is it necessary to remove steering wheel?

To replace the wiper control switch in the 1996 Honda Civic, you must remove the steering wheel. With the wheel out of the way , remove the column covers and disconnect the electrical harness from the wiper switch. Remove respective screws and slide replacement switch into place. Replace respective screws, column cover and steering wheel.

Install ignition switch lock cylinder. 5. Install tilt steering column lock lever. 6. Connect battery ground cable. 7. Check steering column tube and turn signal and windshield wiper switch for proper operation.
First, remove the instrument bezel. Then, loosen the little set screw that holds the wiper switch knob on and remove the knob. Then, unscrew the switch bezel. Unplug the wire harness and pull the switch out of the dash. Nothing to it.

Had the same problem... First take off the steering columb covers( top and bottom). There are 3 screws holding in the bottom steering columb cover. After removing the steering columb cover, you will be able to remove the signal switch and the wiper blade switch very easily. The signal switch and the wiper blade switch is one pieces. When you have removed the steering columb cover, you will seea screw on the top middle of the steering columb.Remove this and unplug the other switches(3) that are attached to the signal switch and the wiper blade switch. That is about it, but be care when you install the new piece...it needs to be lined up for the horn to work or else evrytime you turn the steering wheel your horn will blow.
