Coca-Cola was given its name by a guy named Frank Robinson between the years of 1886, when Coca-Cola was first produced, and 1892.

I'm guessing since the two main ingredients are extracts from kola nuts and the coca plant, that he just put two and two together to form what we know as Coca-Cola today.
