Miriam was not Aaron's wife. She was his sister.
Exodus 15:20
And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
She was punished by being stricken with leprosy.

Miriam wasn't Aaron's wife. She was the sister of both Aaron and Moses. Subsequent
to her criticism of Moses, she contracted some sort of skin plague not definitely identified
to modern medicine. Some translations of The Bible call it "Leprosy", but that's not an
accurate translation.
Numbers 12:1-10 tells us about the account where Miriam and Aaron were speaking against (gossiping against) God's chosen servant, Moses.
