The media ended up having a tremendous effect on the Vietnam War. This was the first war in history that people were able to follow on television. The stories on the nightly news fueled resistance to the draft and the war as a whole, leading to large protests to end US involvement.
Some of the Ameriican Media began to scoff at The Five O'Clock Follies which was the Official report of the Vietnam War intended for the press to release to the home front. Essentially it was a Declaration that the war was being won and that the "Body Count" was proving it. When journalists left Saigon to seek out the facts, a different story was encountered in the field. Inflated body counts were called into question and honest US battlefield numbers began to be reported on the 10 O'Clock news and the people in Peoria, Plano and Pasadena began to see a different war portrayed.
They programmed many pictures and horrifc photos of the Vietnam war which annoyed the US public and army therefore increased American opposition.
The media LOVED Vietnam! They had total free reign. With the rare exceptions of the times that their cameras were confiscated and their film exposed, during certain episodes of the war.
Because of coverage of the Vietnam War being displayed in the media, this lead to Anti-War movements thorughout the U.S.
The military draft effected everyone's lives.
The US was not EFFECTED at all by the Vietnam War. It might have been AFFECTED. You are obviously a College Student trolling for an answer. God help my Social Security. ur just wayy to cool to know.
This is a purely subjective observation: most of the Vietnam War era media illustrations I've seen appear to depict the futility of that conflict, in one way or another.
The Vietnam war effected soldiers physically with strain of fighting in the jungle but it also effected soldiers psychological mind set. Soldiers were pulled out of school and work at the age of 17 and thrown into the war. The soldiers had to drink and smoke marijuana to deal with the war. It was hard for soldiers to come back for war and make a life.
Texas lost 3,415 men in the Vietnam War.
