the Pilgrim's came for religious purposes and the Jamestown settlers came for power/wealth
(They came to America to escape worldly temptations like wealth.)
pilgrims
The first settlers to America were called Pilgrims.
The settlers were, in fact, both British. Jamestown settlers were mainly from London (England). However, 50% of the Jamestown settlers were classed as "gentlemen". These were not working class men but were landowners and people who did not do manual labour. This caused issues as they did not have the necessary skills like carpenters, builders farmers and blacksmith which were needed to initiate the building of the colony.
Coronado explored what is now New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas before the Jamestown settlers or the Pilgrims were even born.
England sent settlers to the New World.

Jamestown

Jamestown became the first permanent colony of England in what is now America. It encourgaed other settlers to come to America.
They were most interested in building colonies in North America.
Indians are indigenous people. (There is some discussion that the term Indians for the people of North America actually came from a misunderstanding and mispronounciation of the word "indigians"--- and not from an idea that the Americas were actually India.) Indigenous means that they were the native people-- and really only means that they had been in America for many generations. Puritans were English people who emigrated to North America. The English government was actually happy to see them go to America where they would cause less trouble, and begin development in America.
